Blog #9

Well i think i have to against my favorite meal in this blog. Because even though it is really good, it is not healthy for the average person. Because of your calestoral level and obesity. Thats why i dont have it often as i should, I warn people that arepas is addicting. Even though it is bad for your health, but what food isnt bad for your health today right?

What other classmates have commented on my "favorite meal" was that it is delicious. Well i have to agree with them because it really is good, health wise im sorry to say this but no it is not healthy for you, it will probably raise up your calestoral level. Arepas origin is from colombia, and its labor issues well, its not that hard to make arepas, well for me because my mother always makes for me or my girlfriend, or i just go to a colombian restuarant and buy them there. So i guess i get away with actually baking arepas.

Blogs #10What was the most interesting thing you learned about the relationship between you, your foods, your body, and the global community?

What i learn about between me, my foods, and the global community is that for my health reasons, the food i eat and also involving my favorite meal is very unhealthy for me, and for the community well it affects it in many different ways. I have learned every little thing possible can harm the environment, and one person can make a change, can help the environment. If people stop polluting, littering, stop using so many of your daily sources and just limit to a couple. Like every time you open the fridge in your house the cold kept inside to

Blog 4: Who makes this stuff?

so i went to supermarket right in front of my house called Key Food, and walk around a couple times looking for the ingredients of my favorite meal called arepas. The bag of flour cost $1.75, the mozzerela chese cost was $5.99, and the gallon of mazolla corn oil cost was at $10.99. So this was my little adventure to the supermarket and well i looked like i have never been to the supermarket due to the little knowelge i had of where were the items in the store, i had to ask around to many different people telling me its in this aisle. Also this blog made me call my mother who i havn't talk to in three days, well my mother was really pissed since i havn't called her and got a little lecture over the phone. Thanks to Prof. Smith of the long lecture from my mother.

My Favorite meal

my favorite meal is called Arepas, even though i rarely eat since i dont live at home anymore and my Mother won't make it for me any more at stop by my apartment and drop off my favorite meal. Even though i ask my girl to learn to cook it, she tried and well it really doesnt taste the same lol. I called my mother and ask her what are in the arepas. she said to prepare corn dough as above mold cakes to 2.1/2 diam. by 1 '' thick by hand. to place on slightly greased hot plate or skillet. allow a hard crust to form on both sides then place in pre heated oven at 350 F until done, takes about 10 to 15 minutes. This is my favorite meal ever since i was a little kid and everytime my mother makes it for me which is about once every 2 years it feels like its my first time tasting arepas.

About Me

Essay 1.1
My name is Benjamin Romero, but my friends call me Benji, I am Mexican- American. I was born on December 8th 1988 which makes me 18. I was born in Manhattan but raised in Queens Astoria which I consider is a really boring borough but calm and my neighbors are easy going. I moved out my parents’ house when I was 17 as soon after graduating high school and moved in with my brother Max, he is 21 he attends St. Johns University and he is an accountant major. Even though my parents being so supportive of my brother and me, they still help us sometimes with any problems we have. So really having 2 people living under one household and attending college you can imagine how hard it is to keep up with our payments. Even though throughout the week we barely see each other due to being full time students and work part time jobs on nights and weekends. Are house parties are crazy we have a blast but cleaning the apartment after is the hardest part. My goals in life for now are finishing my two years here in LaGuardia and then transferring to four year school, my options right now are Queens College or Oswego. I’m a Liberal Arts Major but soon transferring to my major Business Management. I have been to many different places, such as Mexico, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Paris, and Italy which I have to say is one of the best places in the world to visit. I am looking forward to the theme of this semester which is a cluster program. Even though most of the courses work throughout the semester is online which I have to say is difficult for me since I really am not that good with computers but I am a fast learner so hopefully it will be a good experience for me an a easy “A” for the course. From looking at the course documents and for the blogs I see that for one of our assignments is were we are collecting all the trash we consume in 48 hours and place it in a white clear plastic bag and at the end we weigh it to see how much trash we consumed and calculating how much trash we consume in a year. I find that very interesting to know how much trash I will consume in two days also then calculating that into a year. I will find that breath taking and I guess it will change my ways I dispose of my trash and the way’s I act. From what I see this course is exciting from all the class trips we are attending and from the hilarious professor of Mass Media from being a germ stressor and to my English professor who from the criteria he has provided for his course, I see is fun and can not wait for those class field trips. I am looking forward to this theme and excited to attend every class.
